Defective DePuy Hip Replacements Affecting Cincinnati Residents

After recovering, you feel great and are able to move around and participate in activities that you were unable to do prior to the surgery. You feel great for a period of time, then suddenly you begin experiencing pain and can no longer walk. What happened?
Unfortunately, many of those who received DePuy hip replacements are now learning that they were defective. In August of 2010, DePuy recalled two of their hip replacement systems, the ASR XL Acetabular System and the ASR DePuy Hip Resurfacing System. More than 93,000 of the defective devices have been implanted. Unfortunately, studies show that one in eight devices have failed and DePuy knew about the failures long before it issued the recall.
Symptoms of the defective implants are pain, swelling, instability, and trouble walking. Defective implants must be removed and patients are forced to undergo revision surgeries, which are not typically as successful as the original hip replacement since there is less bone and tissue for the surgeon to work with.
