2011 Safety Resolutions: Cold Weather Safety Tips

Comments Off

Cincinnati has already seen a long cold winter this year and we have not yet reached the end of January. Cold weather can be hazardous, so limit your time outside during extreme cold. Dress in layers, wear gloves and a hat that covers your ears to hold in body heat.

Pets are vulnerable to cold too, especially aged pets. Do not leave them outside for long.

If you have a direct-vent furnace that vents through walls, make sure the air intake and exhaust are not blocked by accumulated snow outside. Blocking the vents can create the risk of deadly carbon monoxide in your home.
