On Tuesday, Teresa Jordan , 4, was found by her brother with a swing set rope wrapped around her neck. She was taken to University of South Alabama Children’s & Women’s Hospital and died shortly before noon on Wednesday. The Sheriff’s spokesperson said the cause of death appeared to be strangulation.
The girl’s mother said she was outside with Teresa when she was on the swing, but had regrettably stepped away for a moment. The grandparents were inside the mobile home when the incident occurred. The girls death is thought to be an accident, but police are still investigating.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, about 15 children die each year because of playground equipment-related incidents.
